Joseph Hood

It’s not easy to explain who you are and what you do in just a few sentences.

In short, I am an engineer on a mission to protect small and medium-sized businesses from cyber-attacks AND to help dental practices invest in world-class Diagnostic Digital Imaging solutions.

After earning my BA in Marine Engineering, I enjoyed my first career as a USCG Licensed Engineering Officer in the United States Merchant Marines. I operated power plants onboard ocean-going vessels for almost a decade and traveled the world.

My technical sales career began at Patterson Dental as an Equipment and Office Design Specialist. I gained over 6 years of experience guiding clients in making their practice vision a reality.

I then spent over a decade at Carestream Dental as a Senior Account Executive specializing in all modalities of Dental Digital Imaging, including Digital Impression Scanning and 3D CBCT Technologies.  I enjoyed guiding my clients in selecting the best imaging solutions and acting as a trusted resource by educating, supporting, and ensuring their successful experience.

In 2022, I joined the team at Black Talon Security, Cybersecurity Specialists who are protecting over 1,000 small to medium-sized businesses in various industries, including healthcare, legal, and infrastructure. As a Senior Cybersecurity Specialist, I have the tools and team of credentialled security experts to help:

• Assess the Cybersecurity Risk LEVEL of your business
• Train your employees to avoid hackers' social engineering tactics
• Detect and remediate network vulnerabilities at your business

I am also an independent contractor for Design Ergonomics, an authorized Carestream Dental Digital Imaging Products distributor.  This allows me to share my vision of implementing diagnostic digital imaging solutions efficiently and safely.
